Three bedrooms in Beaufort: which house suits your group

We manage four three-bedroom houses in Beaufort, and they are not interchangeable. Beau's Three by the Sea and Beau Coastal each sleep six and sit inside the Beau Coast community. Go With The Flow, a townhome in the same neighbourhood, sleeps seven and gives every bedroom its own bath. Blue Haven sleeps eight behind a fenced yard and takes dogs. There is a fifth if your dog is the main guest: Briar Patch, a three-bedroom bungalow with a fenced yard, minutes from downtown.
The decision is rarely about bedroom count. It's about bathrooms, dogs, and whether you want a pool and a bike at the door or a yard and a grill.
Start with the bathrooms, not the bedrooms
Three bedrooms sleeping eight people through two bathrooms is a different holiday from three bedrooms with three and a half baths. Blue Haven has two bathrooms and sleeps eight. Go With The Flow runs three bedrooms across three floors with a bath for each, plus a half, which is why it works for two couples and a kid, or three generations who like each other but not at eight in the morning. On the ground floor there's a king bedroom with its own bath, and garage access. The top floor holds the other two, one king, one with a full-and-twin bunk.
Beau's Three by the Sea splits a king, a queen and two twins across three upstairs bedrooms with three baths, and keeps a pack-n-play, a high chair and children's dinnerware in the house. If you're travelling with a baby, that list saves you a car boot full of equipment.
If the dog is coming
Blue Haven, Go With The Flow and Briar Patch all take dogs. They do it differently, and the difference matters more than the fee.
- Blue Haven has the fully fenced yard, so the dog can be out while you're grilling. Dogs by prior approval, two maximum, and no cats: the owner is allergic. Pets stay off the furniture.
- Go With The Flow takes up to two dogs with weight and breed restrictions, and sits beside a neighbourhood dog park. Bikes come with the house.
- Briar Patch is the bungalow built around this, fenced yard included, in a quiet neighbourhood a few minutes from downtown.
Beau's Three by the Sea does not accept pets. Worth knowing before you fall for the photographs.
Beau Coast, or a yard of your own
Three of these houses sit in Beau Coast, a planned neighbourhood you can walk and cycle, with a community pool, a fitness room and a clubhouse. Beau's Three by the Sea is roughly half a mile from Front Street and the waterfront, close enough that the walk into town is the point rather than a chore. Go With The Flow shares those amenities and adds a community day dock on Taylor's Creek, useful for fishing or for having someone collect you by boat. The pool there closes in October and opens again in May, so an autumn booking is a town-and-water trip, not a swimming one.
Beau Coastal keeps bikes and a golf cart, which changes how a week in Beaufort actually runs: you stop moving the car.
Blue Haven is the counter-argument. No shared clubhouse, but a fenced garden with the grill, somewhere to eat outside, and a sitting room for films when the weather turns. Thirty-eight guests have reviewed it and the rating sits just under a perfect ten. Go With The Flow's twenty-seven reviews average a flat ten, which is rarer than it sounds.
What you'll actually do from the door
The town docks face the marsh islands of the Rachel Carson Reserve, directly across Taylor's Creek: Carrot Island, Bird Shoal, Town Marsh and Horse Island, with a herd of around thirty-five feral horses living on them. The ferry across runs every half hour and you don't need a reservation. That's the easiest wild-horse sighting on this coast and you can do it before lunch.
For the bigger trip, Island Express Ferry Service leaves the Front Street waterfront for Shackleford Banks and Cape Lookout, and it's the only ferry the National Park Service authorises for those runs. Shackleford is about twenty minutes out. Pack for a day with no shade and no shop.
Back on land, the North Carolina Maritime Museum and the Old Burying Ground are both downtown and both take less time than you'd plan for. Eat on the water: Clawson's has been at 425 Front Street since 1905 and does local seafood and house-smoked barbecue; Front Street Grill looks out over Taylor's Creek and the reserve from its deck; Finz Grill & Eatery occupies a converted 1920s service station with outdoor seating. Moonrakers is the wood-fired, high-ceilinged end of the scale. City Kitchen sits above Town Creek Marina, away from the Front Street crowd.
Fort Macon State Park, out at the end of Bogue Banks, has free parking, lifeguarded swimming in season and a restored fort with twenty-six vaulted rooms. It's the second most-visited state park in North Carolina. From Beaufort it's a short drive over the causeway, and Morehead City is under ten minutes the other way.

Booking in November, and other off-season questions
Beaufort in November is a different town: the Pirate Invasion weekend fills Front Street, and the walking-and-eating version of this trip is better than the swimming version anyway. Two things shift with the calendar. The Beau Coast pool is shut from October until May, so if a pool is non-negotiable, travel in summer. And every one of these houses has heating, which is not a given in rentals built for August.
For a November weekend with a budget, tell us the number of people and whether the dog is coming, and we'll tell you honestly which of the four still has the dates. Rates, minimum stays and the pet fee vary by home and by week, so we'd rather quote you than publish a number that's wrong by the time you read it.
How to choose in one minute
- Eight people, a dog, and a yard: Blue Haven. Two bathrooms, so agree a shower rota.
- Seven people who want their own bathrooms: Go With The Flow, with bikes and the day dock on Taylor's Creek.
- A family with a baby, walking into town: Beau's Three by the Sea, cot and high chair already there. No dogs.
- A week without using the car: Beau Coastal, for the bikes and the golf cart.
- The dog first, everything else second: Briar Patch.
Book direct with us and there's no platform sitting in the middle taking a cut. You'll get a person who has been inside all of these houses, which is the part that actually helps when you're deciding between two of them.
